The business area works to improve the value and asset performance of operating facilities for upstream oil and gas companies. Its engineering services range from early-phase studies to mature upstream project opportunities. The expertise of the business area is:

• EPCI - multidisciplinary engineering, procurement, construction, installation and commissioning services
• MMO - modification, maintenance and operational support services

The main drivers for the business area are:

• extended production life of existing fields
• increased recovery modifications
• a high average age for installations, which drives MMO growth
• a shift from oil to gas production on the NCS, which requires significant topside modifications
• market growth supported by high oil price
• E&P spending growth

Recent acquisitions have strengthened Apply Sørco, which is present in Krakow, Poland, and Aberdeen, UK as well as in Bergen and Stavanger, Norway. Apply aims to increase its market share in the fast growing NCS MMO-market.

Growth in the MMO market ensured a record order intake for Apply during 2010. Factors supporting this trend are:

• installations on the NCS and on land are in need of significant modifications and upgrades to prolong their economic life
• the market for maintenance and modifications is expected to grow significantly in coming years
