Combined Cycle Gas Turbine
85% of offshore CO₂ emissions on NCS come from gas turbines in operation and the heat generated from the gas turbines can be used to create and recover energy. This study will investigate the use of a bottom cycle facility on the Statfjord C, which opens the possibility of implementing steam turbines.

The study will confirm whether the exhaust heat from the gas turbines used for compression on Statfjord C will allow the generation of steam by implementing two once-trough steam generators (OTSG). A turbine will carry the steam into a steam turbine that powers a power generator either directly or via a gear. The potential identified is to create 10-14 MW of power based on a solution that harnesses the heat of two gas turbines. The amount (MW) generated from the steam plant could allow electrification of current water injection pumps that is driven by gas as per today. Resulting in a potential reduction of CO₂ emissions by 60.000 tons per year in operation.
