Moreld Apply has been given the task to investigate and evaluate possible energy savings for Vår Energi. The energy savings are combined as a part of a portfolio; consisting of a large variety of identified opportunities. The opportunities arise from a mix of continuous improvement proposals from operations together with engineering know-how and new technology. Using experience from early phase design with our clients helps optimize efficiency with a system approach, to help clients identify and reduce cost on existing portfolio.
For Vår Energi the pilot consists of several operational measures and projects, where minor adjustments can cultivate large annual savings. The first sprint alone identified savings on the seawater pumps in the area of 400 MWh a month, which at a price of 500 NOK/MWh equals a 200.000 NOK in saving each month in operation.
Moreld Apply delivers value to clients in many ways. To approach our internal ESG ambitions, our studies undergo a sustainability screening list in an early phase to identify opportunities that will be pursued and used as part of Best Available Technology evaluations. The purpose of this is to document potential improvements to baseline estimates for CO₂ emissions.
As an integrated part of the value chain of our deliveries, power and heat consumption are estimated and used as input together with system efficiency to the CO₂ calculator.
Our BAT evaluations and CO₂ efficiency results are then used together in a tailor-made tool to reflect factors such as design life, production profiles, Technological Readiness Levels, CAPEX and OPEX estimates. When all data comes together, the final product can be used as basis for recommendation to decision-makers on the best way forward to meet climate ambitions.
