The Sleipner area embraces the gas and condensate fields Sleipner Øst, Gungne and Sleipner Vest. Sleipner Vest is a field in the central part of the North Sea infrastructure and was discovered in 1974.

The field is developed with the Sleipner B production/wellhead facility, which is remotely operated from the Sleipner A facility on the Sleipner Øst field. Production started in 1996.
Equinor are studying the necessary modifications required for the Sleipner platforms to cover the production needs for Sleipner Vest in the period 2024-2027. Sleipner LPP and the consolidation project seek to facilitate increased production, reduced CO2 emissions and reduced operating costs towards the year 2037.
